Why does it take 8-10 weeks to ship my Lumatone?

We at Lumatone are proud to be creating a brand new category of instrument. It's a unique design with a whole lot of moving parts, and because of that we have rigorous quality requirements before each Lumatone can be shipped.

As one of dozens of musical pioneers ordering from the very first batches, you'll be taking part in a build-to-order process that circles the globe, and passes through many skilled hands on our team working hard to make Lumatone a reality!

Lumatone was proudly designed and prototyped in Toronto, Canada. Building an instrument with 280 light-up keys is not an inexpensive task! Our parts and assembly is largely completed by our manufacturing team overseas. When you order your Lumatone, we immediately set to work with our partners to begin work on your keyboard.

Parts must be produced in batches, and this happens at intervals based around order volume. This process can take 2-4 weeks. Once the parts for your keyboard are manufactured, it takes another 2-4 weeks for assembly, and then your completed keyboard finds its way onto an airplane to our shop in Toronto.

Once it arrives here in Toronto, your Lumatone is put into queue for quality assurance testing. Our testing process is made up of 38 unique testing procedures! We test the quality of every part, and we ensure that the entire instrument was assembled perfectly. We run tests on functionality like velocity and aftertouch, as well as a host of connectivity and software tests. This testing process takes time and we do it for every single Lumatone we build.

While in some cases your Lumatone may ship sooner than 8-10 weeks -- and once in a while it may take slightly longer due to factors outside our control -- we're aiming to meet or exceed our estimate.

If you have any questions at all about the ordering process or how we build your Lumatone, feel free to reach out using the button at the bottom of your screen.
