We aim to constantly improve your Lumatone, adding new features and functionality as we dream it up or receive feedback from the community. We can do this through the magic of firmware updates.
Firmware is the software that tells Lumatone how to run. It can be updated on an ongoing basis to introduce new features, or fix any problems that are discovered as time goes on.
Updating your firmware is easy to do. You'll need the latest version of Lumatone Editor, as well as the latest version of our firmware, which comes in the form of a .TGZ file.

Lumatone Editor comes with easy instructions, and once you've installed the latest version, let's turn our attention to how to use it to update your Lumatone's firmware:
- Upon downloading the latest version of the Lumatone Firmware, it should unzip into a folder containing a README text file, as well as the firmware file itself, which has the extension .TGZ. Remember where this file is located.
- Connect your Lumatone to your computer via its USB Type-B port (firmware cannot be sent over MIDI connections, only USB).
- Start up Lumatone Editor, and verify that your Lumatone is connected in the top right hand corner of the application.
- Click the settings button at the bottom of the application.
- Click the "Firmware" tab, and then click the "..." button to find the .TGZ file unzipped from the file you downloaded.
- Click "Begin Update."
After a series of animations on your Lumatone, your keyboard should return to the last mapping you were using, and you should receive a message in Lumatone Editor announcing that your firmware update is complete. The update window should display a new firmware version. You can also verify your new firmware version by looking just above the main Lumatone image in Lumatone Editor.
