How do I Calibrate my Lumatone's Aftertouch Pressure?

Much like your Lumatone's keys, you may have to recalibrate the aftertouch region of the keys on your instrument to troubleshoot any issues with us. Here's how to do it.

If you've ever calibrated your Lumatone's keys, this guide will sound very familiar. Much like the key travel, the aftertouch region of each key of Lumatone is also calibrated to perfection in our shop before we ship it out to you.

If aftertouch has stopped behaving as you'd expect, you may want to try recalibrating your keyboard's aftertouch region as part of a troubleshooting process.

This easy guide walks you through how to complete the aftertouch calibration process. It will take approximately five to seven minutes.

  1. Make sure your Lumatone is connected to your computer, and start up the Lumatone Editor application.
  2. Click the Settings button at the bottom of the application.
  3. Select the Calibrate section, and click the Aftertouch tab.
  4. Click the Start Calibration button. Every key of your Lumatone should turn white, and each section of the keyboard should have a red and green button above it. You can think of your Lumatone as divided into 5 sections.
  5. Push down as hard as you can on every key of your Lumatone until you feel the very bottom of the aftertouch region. You don't need to push so hard that you dig a hole to China ... just enough that you show your Lumatone where the very bottom of the aftertouch range is.
  6. Every time you calibrate a key, it will turn blue, so you can keep track of which ones you still have to calibrate. If you feel like you didn't calibrate a key's aftertouch properly, you can go over it again.
  7. Hitting the red button above each section will cancel the calibration for that section, and hitting the green button above it will save your calibration to memory. When you are finished and satisfied with your calibration, hit each of the green-lit buttons above each section of the keyboard to confirm your aftertouch calibration and commit it to memory.

Your keyboard's aftertouch should now be calibrated. We'll be adding a video tutorial to this page in the coming days, but until then, let us know if you have any trouble with the process.

NOTE: If you are calibrating your aftertouch, we also recommend that you calibrate your keys, too.
