So you're all excited to update your Lumatone's firmware, you followed our instructions perfectly, and.... no dice. Your firmware update hangs for a second and then you get a "communication error" in the firmware window.

If you're using macOS Catalina, we know why this is happening. We will address this in a future release of Lumatone Setup, so make sure you have the latest version from our Downloads Page. If you're still having problems, you have two options for completing your Firmware update on macOS Catalina.

  1. Update using a different computer. Switch to a computer using a different version of MacOS (Mojave or High Sierra, for example), install Lumatone Editor, connect your Lumatone, and complete the firmware update process with that computer. Should work great.
  2. Download and install this third party driverCatalina is missing a driver necessary to transfer firmware files to your Lumatone. Download this installer and install the driver with it. After you have installed it and restarted your Mac, it will correct the communication problem on your Catalina-equipped Mac, and you can then complete the firmware update as normal.

If you have any questions about the above workarounds, hit us up in the chat at the bottom of this site.
